A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
