19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
